Fortunately, I haven't encountered the dreaded un-openable glove box, however, I seem to be having the opposite problem-- My glove box will not latch. I have replaced the latch in the door with no luck-- it just doesn't seem to line up correctly with the U that it attaches to.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Can you get the latch to close, say using a small screwdriver on it with the door open? Kind of hard to help with this one unless I look at it. It sounds like something is missing from the new latch install, or maybe it's in wrong.

it latches just fine... the old one had the same problem. If i look at it from the side with the front of the door off, the U that it should latch on to is hitting the bottom of the latch as it goes in and blocking it

bend it up till it matches.

problem solved! for some reason the previous owner had bent it extremely... the piece that was supposed to look like an L looked like a J!
