Does anyone know how much brake fluid is needed to flush the brakes on a stock '98 S70 T-5?

Also, has anyone had good/bad experience with the Motive Power Bleeder?

Thanks.

Liter will get the job done. Just remove as much old fluid from the tank before you start.

When I bought my brake fluid from the Volvo dealership it came in a bottle that said 800 ml on it. The techs there said that will be enough for a full flush, provided that you remove all of the old fluid from the reservior. Make sure it is DOT 4+.
Good Luck

Oh and if you are removing the fluid by the use of a vacuum pump from the bleeding nipples on the caliper. Put some grease or vasoline around the threads of the nipple before you flush. If you don't you'll see small air bubbles in the line and this confused me at first, I thought that there was perpetual air in the lines.

I have nothing but good things to say about the Motive Products Bleeder. Easiest bleed I've ever done.

I used the ATE blue brake fluid for the first time and didn't waste much...you can really see when you have the new fluid with the color change. 1 litre was enough to change the fluid in both my 850 and my Tundra. Next time I'll use ATE amber fluid...same stuff without the blue dye.

DOT 4+ and DOT5.1 are the same stuff, just different notation from different makers. DOT5 is the do-not-use silicone fluid, of course.

PBR deluxe front brake pads & Mintex rears, the best I've found for low dust, no squeal, excellent stopping

What is DOT 4+? Does that mean that the 'exceeds DOT 3 and 4' fluids are not to be used? Should I just go with a NON-SILICONE DOT 5?

Thanks!

Non silicon DOT5 = DOT 5.1 = DOT 4+

Do Not Use Dot5 in your car, the seals will not like it.
The system was made to have dot 4+ or dot5.1 in the car. You could put 3 or 4 in if you want but your boiling point of the fluid will be lowered.
