Rich'
98V70XC in the shop today, regular customer purchased it off E-Bay huh.gif ...anyway expansion tank was full of oil I mean full! Not overheating smoking or rough running, oil was not milky either. No issues other than that. I put a rad in it figuring there was the possibily of fluid transfer between the coolers, flushed it out as best as possible and cut it loose. Told him to return in a few hunderd miles but to check the oil and coolant in the mean time. Have you ever seen this before? JUST SAY YES smile.gif no seriously? I never have? Could only be a few things causing that and I ruled out the headgasket and turbo for now. Any toughts would be appreciated.

Any time I've had Engine Oil in the coolant bottle, it has been a turbo, and replacing the radiator has fixed the problem.

wink.gif ..do you see that frequently? I have seen it with Saabs exchanging ATF and coolant. But never on a Volvo? Or were you serious about the turbo? if so how?

Yes I've only seen it with 93-1998s that are turbos because the oil cooling system on those cars uses the radiator, so when I have oil in the expansion tank It has over time been proven to be a leak in the radiator somewhere, and replacing it takes care of the problem.

Never seen it on a NA.

in 8 years I've seen maybe 5.

Thankyou.. I thought I read your post correctly the first time smile.gif Somehow I thought you were stating the answer and then asking if the rad fixed the problem?
That was the 2nd time I read it! Daah... I was tryin to figure out how that chamber in the turbo would crack and create that problem with no other symptoms? I think toooo far into thing's sometimes tongue.gif
