Just purchased a 05 S40 T5 AWD loaded for the wife, this was with no doubt the best experience I have ever had buying a new car. Everyone there was way too nice, they introduced us to the owner, parts rep., our service writer, and did this big unveiling thing for us. Never in my life has any dealership been this great.
I would highly reccomend them to anyone, Gerry MacDonald & our internet salesman John Byard, they were the best.

Just purchased a used 2004 S60 R in great condition. The sales experience was by far top notch. I have no complaints in this regard. However, registering the car is an entirely different story. Since the dealer is a Connecticut dealer and I reside in Massachusetts, I expected a few minor issues to occur. This unfortunately has turned into an utter nightmare on the dealer's end as well as my insurance company's end. It appears that the finance manager was giving us misinformation, coupled with an ignorant insurance company. The sales manager, however, was very consumer-friendly and attempted to help the best he could.
Bottom line: Great place to buy a car, especially if you reside in CT. If you're an out-of-state purchaser, however, be prepared for a week-long headache.

In Meriden......Saturday service hours & free loaners....good service dept., ask for Jacqueline or Kent. I have had 3 very good service experiences with this dealer including a 105 k svc(timing belt) that cost half what the "Gold Coast " dealers quoted me.

I just had my timing belt done at 135K there. there was a problem with a part that i had gotten from fcpgroton, and it ended up being very expensive. However, the technicians were very knowledgeable, and weren't averse to showing me exactly what was wrong with the part, and were open to my suggestions, and it was obvious they were trying to give me the most affordable solution.
and, all told, although it was double their original quote, if i had not had the part issue it would have been pretty cheap.
and their customer service is very good

well lets hope you don't need service on your volvo or maybe bring it to mitchell. Gengras E Hartford replaced the ball joint on my 2003 XC70 in July. August it failed (no one hurt thank god.). They had the car for a month and now its back in again for front end issues. They keep telling me its a tire/wheel issue. Well I DIDNT HAVE HAVE TIRE WHEEL ISSUES TILL THEY WREAKED MY CAR.sorry didnt mean to shout. Anyone got any ideas how I can get my car back to it original condition?

I bought a 2006 V70 from them (ex rental)October of 2006. Drove over from Albany because it was color my wife wanted. I liked the price we negotiated. But then when we went to do the paper work they tried to get me for a couple hundred bucks in documentation fees( The sign stating this policy is high on the wall behind you,no way in hell you can see it). I said no and walked out. I was 1 foot out the door when the salesman chased me down and said we could negotiate that out of the price. So we sat back down, did the paper and handed them a check, we agreed I would pick the car up in 2 days.
We went back to pick up the car, They did a superb job on the detail! It was flawless. Problem was when I looked underneath I saw the cross member had been damaged from an impact. I had checked the car over carefully when I made the deal so I knew the damage was fresh. I told them I wouldn't accept the car unless the cross member was replaced. There was some expected resistance and offers of a different car but ultimately they replaced the cross member and left it on the lift for me to inspect before taking delivery .
It was usual BS you go through when buying a car but it was no different than anywhere else. They are a business and they are in business to make money. I got what I wanted at the price I was willing to pay. Very happy with the car .I would buy from Gengras again.
I can't speak for their service dept since I live in Albany and have the car serviced at the local dealer

Emailed dealer for a quote. Reply received within the week. Ended up not needing the work, but I liked their response and convenience.
