What are the 850 derivatives? (I know 854 I think, are there others?)
What makes them different?
How can you tell they are different when looking at the car?
Thanks for the knowledge.

If I'm not mistaken 854 refers to 4 door 855 refers to a wagon.
There aren't any differences between an 850 and an 854.
What sets each model apart are the different trim levels - GLE, GLT, Turbo, T-5, T-5R, etc

In the U.S. only the '97 850 Turbo was badged as "T-5". However, some people incorrectly refer to '94-'96 "850 Turbo" badged models as T-5.
There was:
850 (Base) ('93-'97) (just 850 badge, no "base" badge)
850 GLT ('95-'97) (got a light pressure turbo for '97; n/a in '95 and '96)
850 Turbo ('94-96)
850 T-5 ('97) (same as earlier 850 Turbos, but T-5 badge was used in order to distinguish it as the high pressure turbo model vs the low pressure turbo 850GLT)
850 Turbo (Platinum Edition) ('96 only) (badged as 850 Turbo, but has special pearl white paint that was only availabe on the Platinum edition)
850 T-5R ('95 only)
850R ('96-'97)
All of the above were available in either sedan (854) or wagon (855) except for 1993 models, which only came as a sedan.
Difference between '95 850 Turbo and '95 850 T-5R can be viewed below:
