My steering wheel just started to vibrate. Noticeable at any speed above 35-40mph. It seems go thru phases of better and worse. Or worse and worser in this case. I jacked up my car on the passenger side and shook the front wheel. It moved just a little too much and I heard a clunking noise. I traced it to the tie rod/ steering pump connection. All the other connections are tight. Is there an adjustment for this or is something just worn out? Is this a job for the driveway or superman (real mechanic) How much is a steering pump...yikes!

Sounds like a worn inner tie rod.

You can do it but I would recommend having a pro do it...could cost you more in the long run ? (just my thoughts) on a tie rod that is, whether it's inner or outer? don't want that thing all toed in like a John Deere when your done now do ya?
Naah actually it's not that hard ..not sure if repairs and maintenance has it in there?

Nothing in the repair section. Nothing in my Hanes book either. Any thoughts on DIY vs taking it in? Any price estimates of what this costs?
