Leaking Gas Tank

this happened 1 week after receiving my gas tank recall leter...

while filling up (full), i noticed fluid leaking from under car.
fuel tank was leaking from filler neck union to tank...
seemed to leak out until level was below junction point.

took the car into boston volvo, they said they performed the recall, but that the leak was something different...
has anyone had a similar problem?
does anyone know the fix?
how dangerous is this if the gas level is kept below this certain point?

Recall info and the filler neck joint is 16 bucks at the dealer
