well i finally did it, i blew the deck speakers in my 95 850. I am wondering what can be done. Can any aftermarket speakers fit in the case? My other option would be to just delete them and leave them out, but then there are just 2 big holes back there, what have you guys done with these speakers? whats a good thing to use to fill in the holes? thanks for the opinions, anything can help!

get a sub
you'll wish your rear decks weren't dead so you could hit them with a hammer and make them dead

*jk

the ACTUAL size of the stock ones are 5x8's or something like that
some have made 6x9's fit in the rear deck locations pretty well. searching yields good results. if you stick with well known speaker brands, you can't go wrong. the only drawback is that the stock headunit can't power aftermarket speakers to the full potential

and thanks for supporting VS

Yup.

Save the money on rear decks, get a nice 10" sub, remove the deck speakers, throw them away.. and enjoy better sound.

Ok, but what do i do about the 2 big gapping holes they left behind? It just looks ugly back there when you look through the rear window. Cardboard?

That's the beauty of it, the bass travels through the holes.. If you really don't like the holes (you can't even see trough 'em with tint) go get some really thin foam, hit it lightly with some black spraypaint, and stick it under the speaker grills.

you dont think replacing the 5x8's in the rear with something AND adding a sub would yield better sound?

plus with the sub shouldnt your upgrade your headunit vs stock or have an amp?

I blew my 6x9's in the rear in my 95 850 n/a long time ago.

I put 5x7" Boston Acoustics in and loved them. Just had to drill some holes to mount them, not hard at all.

Some people have made other aftermarket 6x9's work, but I haven't seen any in person.

your sub will overpower the 6x9's
if you get a sub, remove the 6x9

you can reuse the deck speakers, just take the actual speakers out, and leave the black thing and grill, it will be same hole, but look, like stock speakers.

That is what I did in the 740. I put my subs in the trunk - ampless for now - and it sounds good. I really need to get an amp kit so I can run my subs on my amp. by the way, I have 2 10" Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 1 subs in custom boxes (orig. made for my truck). This summer, I want to replace my spare tire cover (the original one is sagging in the middle) with a custom MDF box to hold my subs and amp.
