I was taking the siwtches out of the dashboard, and came across a connector like one that goes to the switches connected to the back of one of those space-filling plastic chunks. What is this (/could this be) for? Fog lights? Something else? And why are there so many empty places where switches could potentially go? There are like 3 or 4 empty places. What other things could you have on your car that would have a switch?

Most if not all Car makers will wire a car for all available options whether they are installed or not. Simplifies adding options on the assembly line as well as once the car is at the dealer. I was able to add Factory Cruise to my RX-7 just by purchasing the correct brain and actuator from the salvage yard. Just a matter of plugging it into the existing wiring.

I bought the heated seat switches for my 98 S70 but nothing happened. The orange LED did come on when I press the switches. Did I need to buy something else?

The seat heaters need to have the heating grids installed in the seats in order for them to work.

Are the grids installed by the facotry only? Or I can buy somewhere and install by myself?

What do you mean by the relay? The actual lights?

if you get the fog lights set from the wreckyard, the relay is attached to the wiring, you also will need the dash switch.

lol sorry i had to laugh at the noob thing (the seats)...

answer to seat heaters. If you do not have heated seats from the factory you need the heating elements that go inside the seats. If your car doesn't have heated seats there are no elements in them. Yes you can do it but it would be a pain.

fog light question. All 850's after 1993 came prewired for fogs (some 93's did but not to many).

The rest of the blanks can be used for numerous things. First, fog lights (duh) second, antenna down switch, third, trip computer fourth, uhhh something else (NOZZZZ ? laugh.gif )

Well, yeah. Those are all things you'd install yourself and would have to fashion your own switch and all. I meant, what kinda stuff came in cars that they have those extra spaces for. Anything?

Actually all of those were options except for the Nos of course. There also is room for a tracs switch for those of you without that too.
From what I can tell, there is a use for every blank. I'd have to got look at my car to tell you exactly, but I'm thinking:
Left side: Headlight switch, Door lock switch, Fog switch.
Right: Tracs, Trip, sun-roof, antenna
