I have a 94' 855 Turbo. The ABS lights comes on almost everyday after driven for 2-5 KM (mostly city driving) and off again soon I restart the car.
After chking with the A3 Code Terminal, I am getting code 141,142 which is the Pedal and brake sensor. I have cancel the code a few times and soon the light comes back, I would get the same come again.
What should I do?
Cheers,
Edwin :)

Usually this is caused by a faulty ABS control unit, or a failing ingition switch, or once in a great while, a bad wheel sensor.
The abs unit can be repaired by a guy named Vitor. His work is probably better than a new one from Volvo.

You can check out http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair/abstrax.htm for more details on diagnosing your problem.
Also, the search function is really nice too wink.gif

Thanks Jb. I don't think it is the ingition switch nor the ABS control unit. I remember reading something from somewhere saying 94 control unit not usually goes wrong, only the newer one (96+). If there is a bad wheel sensor which I thought what it was, should i be getting a code on that instead of barake and pedal?
Let's say if I go ahead and replace the brake and pedal sensor, do u think it iwll work and if so, do u know where they locate since I really have no idea what they are. Another thing which I learned from the past, on the Benz, a bad altulator can cost the ABS light to light up, not sure if it is the same on Volvo. dry.gif
I used the search function already but couldn't find anything related to mind, may be I will chk again on the older post.
Thanks again.
Cheers,
Edwin :)

I'm not sure. The three problems I listed are about 95% of the causes for the ABS light around this forum.
I think the pedal sensor would be right where is sounds. Back behind your brake pedal. I know mine makes a little click every time I step on it. I'd imaging it's only purpose is to light up the brake lights, but feel free to educate me if I'm wrong.
It is possible that the ABS units only fail on the new models. Search for the user name "Vitor" and find one of his posts with a link to his website. He will be able to answer that question.
There was one person who mentioned a while back that replacing the alternator fixed their problem, so that could be a possibility too.

The ABS on 95 and older Volvos does not fail like the one on 96 and newer, hence, I don't repair them.
Most likely you have a problem somewhere else in the system.
Look for information on the ignition key switch, also, read the codes and that will give you an idea as to what may be wrong with your car.
