Time to lay down the law. For the most part, everyone has been pretty good about this forum. Hopefully, that will continue. Here are my rules.

· Street racing. It is illegal on the street, it is illegal here. If you are cruising organized events, don't want to hear about it. I will allow the stoplight races like before, but if you are an idiot and do in traffic or with pedestrians around, I will close it.

· Freeway racing. Another stupid thing, but if it is just you and some other idiot risking your lives, I will let it go.

· If I don’t like the story for some reason, I close it. I will be fair about it and post the reason for the closure, but it should be obvious. You don’t like it, tough.

Now for the good stuff. I would really like to see more posts about legitimate racing in here, drag races, autocross, track days, even drifting events for you RWD guys.

Play nice and don't do anything stupid out there.

How exactly did they pick you to be the moderator of this forum? I don't think I've ever noticed you posting here before...

I see I will be closing a lot of your threads. tongue.gif

You are right though, I normally don't start threads in here, but just because you don't remember doesn't mean it hasn't happened. I am not going to post about street racing. The posts that I have started are all legal events, like autocross. I plan to race a few this year and hopefully at least one track event.

I don't want to be a moderator, and they (they know who they are) certainly don't want me to be moderator.

I couldn't be such a trouble maker here if I was supposed to be a lleader. tongue.gif

Anyway, good luck to you moderating the wildest Volvo forum this side of Gothenburg, Zappo.

add to the rules that we want more videos. as much as i like reading 10 parahraph stories about how someones car beat some other car, I much prefer the video to go along with the story. Im a picture book kind of guy.

That'd be a glorious idea, people actually using their chip and KW's and Big Brake kits for something else other than cosmetics.

I'll be taking my "stock" 850R to the track ofcourse like always. Apparentally you don't need $6k worth of mods to do it. Shocking. 2/18 Time Trial/Autocross @ VIR, then several other autocrosses and another Time Trial. Should hold me over until the racecar is together.

Doug got sick of dealing with certain biases here, so he can be found on turbobricks more often these days.

I feel that not enough people have been reading the RULES around here, so let's refresh our memory.

Please read the rules before posting in here, period. If we don't feel that your post is worthy, or unsafe, we WILL close it.

So "streetracing is illegal, therefore it is illegal here" yet you smack yourself in the face w/ a contridiction 12 words later. Wow what a joke. You're basically saying its ok to street race if you're only putting your life and the other driver's life at risk. This thread should be limited to off-road racing only. I think you need to rework the rules or something, but right now its just a huge cluster-monkey of contradiction and gray-areas...give em an inch, they're gonna take a mile. Unless you like closing thread after thread of people seeing how far they can push you.

I do! laugh.gif

The reality is most of the members on this board are under 23 and have grown up thinking street racing is cool. They also can't justify spending to go race at a track or auto-cross when they can race on the street for free. They think they will never get caught at no one will get hurt. It is the optimism of youth. It only appears free to them because they don't see the real cost until they are busted by the police or people start dying. Only then do they figure out it is stupid. It is a lot like smoking. Everyone knows it is bad but that doesn't stop them from doing it.

That said, if I truely closed all illegal activity in this forum, there would be almost no posts at all and we might as well just eliminate the forum altogether. I would prefer it to be totally legitimate racing, but until people start posting up real racing, its going to stay the way it is for now.
