Thats awesome man! I'd presume its not street legal, so where are you going to drive it after putting the work in to do an engine swap? I'd imagine after all that work you'd need to have at least a little fun with it!

It's gotta be legal to drive somewhere. Doesn't the guy from Aphex Twin drive a tank?

Some progress, the barrel is back on and some more interior parts were added.

For the engine question, the 9 cylinder star engine will be replaced with a 2 stroke V8 turbo diesel. 2 reasons, one being the fuel cost overhere and the other being the parts availability and serviceability of the engine. The 9 cylinder is a very difficult engine to start and to maintain and the mileage is horrific.

Yes it is.. With the 9 cylinder it would use a gallon a mile .. . At 6 dollar a gallon that will become pretty costly.

I'm not sure but I believe it has a 185 gallon fuel tank.

With the diesel at roughly 4.75 dollar a gallon and 7 miles per gallon consumption there is something to gain. ;)

Okay that makes a little more sense. Where does one drive a tank these days?

Tank number one is on hold because Tank number 2 needed all the attention..

Posted Image

Arrived a couple of months ago. Partially taken apart, mostly interior, painted and put back together.
Engine was left in place, 7 cylinder radial, was sold as running which it did but only ran for a couple of seconds when it arrived.

Tank had to be ready for an event this coming weekend but after the paint was mostly ready and the turret back on focus went to the engine.

It did start, it ran again for a couple of second but no oil pressure. To date the problem hasn't been solved. With only a few days to go the tank will be put on transport and will be parked at the event for static display.
A real bummer, bro did put a lot of hours in it but decided to give up the attempt to make the engine run. Decision is also based on fear for engine damage even if the oil pressure problem would be solved.
