In Topic: S80 2005 Intermittant No Start

Hello,

If the starter is not turning at all, check the small terminal on the starter itself. Sometimes gets corroded just enough to cause an intermittent issue. I usually clean the terminal on the starter, squeeze the spade terminal for a slightly tighter fit, and apply a little dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion ;).

Hope this helps,

Joe

This makes no sense. Pressure and vacuum are two different units.

Makes perfect sense. He was right, 1.81 psi is roughly 931 mm/Hg. I found this when using the Wife's blood pressure cuff to set my actuator ;)...

Hope this helps,

And you know this how?!? I don't intend to clutter Lucky's thread by arguing with you, but that is a pretty dumb statement considering we've never met...

In any case, I was simply curious as to what the problem was. I find it quite easy to drive with finesse in either of our cars (the S70 is tuned, the XC is stock). With an AWD car that will bite when punched, whats wrong with a slightly aggressive throttle anyway? Your statement about sounding like you're "gassing it to wind up the turboz" is an exaggeration. Maybe your car has a problem, because the throttle is anything but uncontrollable. That or you just need to learn how to drive...:D

This is partly to keep the cars from being to 'punchy' off the line which was a common complaint in 99-00 LPT AWD cars.

Maybe I just don't drive aggressive enough, but I've never noticed this on either of our '00 AWD's (S70 and XC). The only complaint I have reguarding throttle (and it may be designed this way to protect the convertor clutch) is that the lock-up will disengage on the highway, rather than building any boost first. This happens on hills with the cruise set. Strange thing is, if I use manual throttle input, I can easily attain 6 psi or so with no disengagement of the TCC. If it IS designed this way, why did the earlier cars not do this? Our 850T would always build boost on hills (and stay in lock-up). Anyway, just curious :)...

Excellent work Lucky, the things you make happen never cease to amaze :)
