The headlight switch fell apart in my daughter's '95 855. She lost her headlights.
It is not difficult to remove it - what broke was the tabs that held the guts in the box around the switch.
Does your headlight switch feel funny?
I purchased a new switch, but later decided that a simple repair with tape that does not stretch would have done the job.

NOW the question becomes - When will you replace this compromised belt?
What mileage? - What time?

To check for a bad plug or wire, you could disconnect one at a time - the bad one will not make any difference, BE CAREFUL and use a really thick wad of rags to grip the plug - you do not want to see how muck a shock will hurt!
I always keep a set of used tune up parts in my trunk. whenever I change something, I throw the worse used one away.

You should remove the plugs every year or so and put a tiny amount of anti seize on them.
On Click and Clack (PBS radio) they advise - If you leave the plugs in for 100k, they will NEVER come out!

What color was the oil when you put it in? Do you know? How does your cam look when you look into the oil filler cap?
If the color bothered me, I would do an oil change - I would check the color of each quart that I put in - then check again each 1000 miles after the change.
Both our 850s - a NA and a Turbo - do not show much discoloration between oil changes. The turbo is a bit darker.
Some oils are quite dark - Amilie I think is a good example.
Sea Foam may clean things up, but if this is a rapid onset of a problem I doubt if it will address the issue.
