Hey VSers... I left the midwest to check out Texas.
Was curious if anyone was around the Livingston area. I will be headed down the coast soon and to Austin a time or two.

About a week ago... the M66 swap in my V70R was complete:
http://gallery.me.co...=13239284620001
Shortly thereafter... my motor + overboost = bent rods (if not more internal items)
So... I decided to start looking for another motor and in another state, found this B5254T2 from an 07 S60 FWD auto... mileage believed to be about 26K

A board had smacked the top of the engine in an accident and broke two of the COPs, but otherwise, everything seeming was in good order.
So after turning it over by hand and checking the timing marks, an offer was made and accepted. Then came the matter of getting it into the transport vehicle... a Honda Element.

Loaded up for the trip back to ohio

Removed auto trans, TC, and flex plate

Removed alternator, AC compressor, accessories bracket, all wiring, PCV, turbo hotsite + shield, intake, fuel rail, thermostat housing, front cam sensor, all cut hoses, etc. Ended up with a pile

2.5L next to 2.3L... before cleaning starts

Front cam drilled out to 11/16ths to accept distributor rotor. Cap bolts up perfectly

And this is basically how it sits now after some cleaning with more cleaning to come. Yes... it's gross... I'm aware... trust me. I'm working on it. But it's just surface stuff. Flakes right off... just tedious as hell

Thanks to Dan for letting me use his garage................. and for modifying this bucket for me. I'll post updates here if anyone's interested. Hope to have it running by this weekend.
The m66 has 33K... and 2.5L has 26K. Should feel pretty fresh when it's all done and operational. The next mods will be turbo, FMIC, and a proper tune or turbotuner.

Motor Catastrophe - V70r

This week I successfully swapped my car to an M66 AWD 6 speed transmission... and it was awesome!! However, I have succeeded in breaking my motor - B5234T6

I do not know the extent of the damage yet, and I will post a video of the noise when I pull the head off this weekend. It still runs and drives, but it's bad bad rattle. Sounds like bent valves to me, but I don't know. Caused by overboost in 4th and it started shuttering when it failed.
So my question is this for those of you who have experience in this area. How much does it cost and what are the necessary parts to rebuild the motor properly? Connecting rods? Pistons? Etc
OR to look for a later 2.3 or 2.5 motor and which reportedly have the forged internals from the factory?
PS... anyone have a motors for sale?
