I need some help coming up with a solution to a Volvo related problem.
As some of you may remember, I recently powder coated a set of Volans that I had on my 850R. I was intending to keep them once coated because they looks primo. Then a decent 98 Saff came along, so I bought it. Right place, right time blah blah...Instead of buying new tires and remounting the Volans for summer, I decided to sell them to help pay for the Saff. I posted them up as freshly coated and straight, since they have always balanced out. Always.
I get an offer from a VS member out west, we make deal at $575, and I ship them out. A few days later, I get an email that the faces of two of the rims had some of the PC scuffed off in transit (greyhound) . The buyer opens them in front of the greyhound agent, and the agent says the packaging was poor. I guess I should have wrapped them in plastic before wrapping them in foam and boxing them up. The cardboard scuffed off a bit of the PC. I saw pix, they had minor scuffing, so the black base shows through along the middle of the spoke ridges. I offered to send out the leftover powder from coating, and 100$ to cover the cost to recoat, which he accepted. But wait.
A couple of days later, he emails me again and tells me that two of the rims are so bent, he won't mount them. I don't quite understand this, since they balanced out fine on my car, but whatever. I offer him his $ back, but he refuses, citing he would be down $240 for shipping them out and back, but have no rims. Fair enough. I let him sit on that for a few days, but this is eating at me, this guy has a real problem now, and I have to come up with something. So, I offer him $300 to get the 2 bad rims straightened, and also send the leftover powder to fix the scuffed rims. Rims get straightened and coated for between 85 and 125 each here in Ottawa. At a maximum of 125, they would have to be in really bad condition, in need of crack welding etc. None of these rims fit that description.
In his latest email, he now refuses my offer of $300, complaining that $300 (and my leftover powder $50) will not be enough to get the rims into the shape he thought he was getting. I understand his disappointment, I'd be pissed too, as this has been dragging on for a month. But, as you guys may recall, a nice set of Volans went for $800 here recently. I believe that by giving him $300 and 2 lbs of powder, I lower his initial investment to $225 plus shipping ($120) so he is in for only $345 now. If he does throw in another $100-ish of his own to add to my 300, he effectively gets a prime fresh set of Volans for $450 or so. I think that is a fair deal, but I believe he expects me to cover the entire cost to refurb all 4 wheels, which I do not agree with.
I say my offer is fair. What say you, lads?

Bought A Car Today.

I bought a 98 saff V70R AWD today. This will be my next project, and I'll add to the list as I progress. I was told by a woman today that this is THE hot color this spring. And girls know that kind of thing. I didnt have the heart to tell her that it's a 98 model :-)
Has; 18T, rica, 3"dp. 122k miles. The only thing that doesn't function are the power door locks, and that will be fixed soon.
First, heater core, tint, and some paint work.
Future plans include ABM's, hid's, wing, sub-woofer, likely move over to ARD too. Maybe I'll throw my Volans on if they don't sell...the usual stuff. No big mods with this one, unlike my last 2.
Wrapping A Wing

Anyone ever wrapped a wagon spoiler with Oracal or similar film? I'm not going to use Di-Noc, its not meant for prolonged outside use, especially around here with the wide range of temps we get.
I think I could likely get it done in 2 pieces, one on top and over the ends/sides, and then try to match up a piece on the bottom surface as best I can. Anyone got tips on this? I've watched a bunch of youtube vids, and wrapped a couple of smaller pieces, so I kinda get it. Just looking for some experienced voices here.

Rica Or Ard?

Bought another wagon! 98 V70R AWD, saff. Selling the white 850R soon, but that's another topic.
The new ride has an 18T, 3"dp and white injectors, mated to a Rica tune. Its all mechanically sound, and solid. I know the guy who did the work at the shop where it was all done.
My question is, since I don't really know the differences between Rica and ARD, would a blue ARD be a better bang than Rica? Fill me in.
