You probably got the wrong radiator.

On the same subject I did this job last Saturday on my 850 NA. The radiator was a good fit, but for the tranny connectors the radiator came with two brass couplings that I had to screw to the radiator. If you look on the posted photos above the original tranny connectors were already attached. So I screwed the new fittings on there without using thread sealant! So it leaks tranny fluid around the threads. I just bought liquid thread sealant so I have to remove them cleanthem and use that stuff to stop the leak! Would that fix the leak?

Also I destroyed the clamps on the tranny lines so I had to buy new ones. They are $12 each from the dealer!!

No idea what caused the fire.

From the photos of parts taken off I could see a high flow K&N (cone) filter.
What worries me is what caused the fire and yes the electrical wires if some are melted.

Unfortunately it can not be opened! It is a one piece deal.
  5. In Topic: 850 Dashboard And Gauge Cluster Removal?!?

    Posted 23 Jun 2009

The dash is one piece: top black plastic (with AC vents) connected to lower dash (beige for mine that goes around the radio area etc). If you try to remove the top (black part that has the AC vents in it) you might damage/break it.

The dash is held in place with 94 or 5) long bolts that you reach from under the wiper compartment in front of the windshield. You have to remove the wiper arms and the plastic cover that hides the wiper motor and linkage. You also need to loosen the wiper motor to reach one hidden bolt behind it. Beside that the dash is held in place by torx screws near the door hinges next to the door lights and under the ashtray.

To fix the problem if the plastic part is broken you have one option: find an 850 in a salvage yard and remove its dash. If you try to glue the nuts back with metal/plastic reinforcement it might not line up for the long bolts that hold it to the firewall. A new dash costs more than the car itself!!

To remove the entire dash you have to remove the center console and the steering wheel, radio, AC panel, glove box, ashtray etc. I had removed the top dash pad before removing the entire dash, but I think you can leave it in place, just disconnect the PS airbag through the glovebox.
