DO those things have a one way valve in them or do you just squeeze and hold?
There is air release valve between the bulb and hose, put pressure in with bulb and close the valve, then slowly release the air until your desired number on the gauge.

greekone, if you have a red 855R that you're not going to fix and decide to part out, let me know as I've been looking for good condition tailgate and rear bumper cover in 609 color code for a couple years now. Will travel to Connecticut for the right deal.
