Funfest Project

13 May 2012 - 04:05 PM

Every year at my Wife's school they have a funraiser evening called "Funfest".
We racked our brains for a new fun game for the kids to play this year.
This is what we came up with. "Hot Shots!"

The project was constructed with scrap materials around the house for the most part.

48" x 36" sheet of plywood
White paint
80cm paper archry target
School logo's to hide target advertising
48" x 36" x 1/8" plexiglass
1" trim ripped from an old 2x4
Brass screws
Nerf Maverick Rev-6 shot guns

Kids are awarded tokens through out the evening to which they can purchase items from the awards table at the end of the event.

This primary school game will sure to be a hit with the kids!

Shake Down Run

22 April 2012 - 08:26 PM

First off the mission today was to run the car down the ¼ multiple times without breaking it!
Mission accomplished!
Let me set the stage, weather has sucked huge since getting my car back from MT.
This is basically the first time I have had the chance to push the car a little bit.
Same deal as previous years, I suck at launching.
Today I experienced wheel hop, tire spin & cold track
Last run something happened to my pillar gauges / they all stopped working?
Here’s a vid of today, or should I say laugh of your day :monkey:

What Happened Here?

12 April 2012 - 12:45 PM

A fiend is dealing with this at his work place.

Any ideas what could cause this?

200 hrs / 3 week period (Oil turned to tar)

1000 hrs on 2011 motor Cat C4.4

The oil system of the engine is packed with this.
Currently we don’t have any indication of what could have caused this. As mentioned, 200 hours on oil should not lead it to look like this. With no performance complaints or logged faults/shutdowns there is no indication of engine failure of any kind.

To begin, we can attempt to flush the system with a solvent such as diesel fuel to clean as much of this out as possible. As discussed, we believe this can be done with the engine in place and the oil pan removed.
Without running the engine, or completely disassembling there would be no way to clear out each oil gallery and passage.

Our concern would be regarding any engine damage that could be present that this thick oil is concealing during operation. If excessive wear has been occurring since this condition started the thick oil could be filling these gaps and keeping the engine running. With a clean-out and re-start this damage could become evident.

Also, as mentioned, at this point there’s nothing pointing us to a warrantable failure. There aren’t any engine conditions we can think of that would cause this situation. However, we will continue to look for any engine issues as we work.

Plan right now is to have Steve back to site tomorrow afternoon and Saturday to attempt the flush and restart.

As a side note: no oil company or lab can explain what happened so far!

Disconnecting Abs Pump

29 March 2012 - 06:36 PM

Is it possible to disconnect the ABS pump? I need the electrical side of the ABS to work as my speedo works off the left front speed sensor, however I would like to kill the ABS modulator.
