Old Men Crew: I'm So Old I'm Adding Chrome Instead Of Dechroming... The Horror
29 January 2012 - 04:13 AM
Swapped to the rest of world spec chrome bumper strips to completely delete the dumb extra North American bumper lights. I know that every person who has made their Volvo 240 look like a brand new and vastly sportier vehicle by dechroming is thinking I'm just nuts. I don't care, I'm 37 years old.

Same year, same headlights, 20s, but charcoal interior and LT engine. It did make me do a double-take when I saw it...

Bought Back A Piece Of My Old 855
09 January 2012 - 03:26 AM

When they were on the Volvo back in 2004-2006

So five years later I wanted them back, saw them on craigslist and now they are under the house with the rest of the players on the bench. They were actually still in pretty good condition and probably the only set of 18" W140 S-Class wheels in the northwest.
These along with the far more common AMG Monoblocks were the wheels that inspired many of the VIP Japanese wheels, Carlsson, Lorinser, MAE and more when they were introduced back in the 1990s. US cars never got them, so I had to import them in from the fatherland.

Was at a real photo session, but these are some of the ones I took with the little point and shoot.
The Year Was 1992 And I Modded My First Car - 1969 Vw Beetle
26 December 2011 - 04:47 AM
Finally got a device that scans old photos and these pics are about 18 years old and even sucked in their day.
This is where it all began for me...

1969 Beetle coverted to look pre-1966. Schiel Porsche seats, Porsche 356 wheels 15x4.5 with space saver spares in 125/85/15 and 15x6 with 195/50/15. Car was about a quarter inch off the ground at the front beam and half inch off the rear exhaust flange. It may look a bit lame by today's standards, but 18 years ago it wasn't.
Anyone else have old first car pics? Gary?
