A Few Of The Wagon
Posted 6 Sep 2009
I drove the wagon out to Tucson, AZ a couple of weeks ago to leave it out there at my parents' place for the year since it's nice and dry.
I gave it a good detail on the inside before storing it. The exterior photo is from a few weeks earlier when a friend of mine who owns a shop detailed up the outside for me. I think it looks pretty good for 168,000 miles.
EDITED: to add a couple more pictures.

And the new angled flange TME downpipe just installed before the drive out West. I love it and no more SAS!

Volvo Air Pump
Posted 18 Aug 2009
Since I'm selling a used Volvo airpump from my car for $60 I just wanted to check the price on a new one from Volvo. It was $370-$450 but I noticed that it says "Part discontinued" on myswedishparts.com which is a Volvo dealer. Does this mean that Volvo has stopped carrying air pumps? That seems strange to me...
Any ideas? Maybe a vendor has some idea. -
Used Air Pump
Posted 18 Aug 2009
Hi all.
I have a used Genuine Volvo Air Pump for sale off my car. It has worked fine and hasn't caused any codes to be thrown. My new downpipe didn't have a spot to plug in the SAS since I got a 99-00 downpipe so the air pump came off the car.
$60 shipped. -
The Wagon Got An Update
Posted 11 Jul 2009
The wagon has had the same 16" Persus rims on it since it was new and when I returned to the States for the summer I felt like it was time to focus a bit on the car's looks.
I like the way the car looks and I hope you all do too. They are 17" anthracite Satellites which were the optional size on the 2000 R. Tires are 215/45/17 Kumhos.

Weird Discovery
Posted 4 Jul 2009
I recently ordered new control arms, outer and inner tie-rods and a whole bunch of other parts from Jamie at DW Volvo. Great customer service as always and my parts arrived extremely quickly.
Anyway, the I ordered inner tie-rods based on the chassis number of my car since SMI racks supposedly only started 549830 on a V70 and my car is way below that. Therefore, my car should have been equipped with a TRW rack. In addition, the chassis code on the ID plate reads what looks like an "A" but must be a "4" to signify that it is a TRW rack. So far so good.
So Jamie sent me inner tie rods for a TRW rack. Upon trying to install them, we discovered that these were the wrong inner tie-rods! I was confused.
Many years ago, the rack was replaced by Big Dee Volvo @ 52,000 miles (just out of warranty of course). Is it possible that the dealer installed the wrong rack?! I guess it would bolt up the same but I'm just surprised that no one would have bothered to install the right part...especially one like that.
I'm not one to complain about stuff like this, but I actually feel like going there and asking them to install the right one.
