Price Sheet: Engine Build

Ok so i figured we should start a topic on a price sheet for all the parts and or outsourced labor to the machine shop

Here is a short list of the items we should cover so this goes out to anyone with some numbers! I will add them to the list as they are posted.

Part prices are a phone call away. Machining cost vary greatly by location and shop. Maybe a complete list of what needs to be done during a rebuild, part prices, and what is optional might be better. For prices at my local machine shop it really depends on how much work they have to do that day and how fast you need it done. Dont forget windowing the block ;)

Stock rods w/ bolts around 114 bucks each

R-sport rods 100 bucks each w/ bolts

SPM rods are around 250 each mark IIRC, probably wrong though

OEM pistons are 54 for STD bore, 84 for OS1

Bearings are $170 bucks for the main bearing kit and rod bearings are 130 for OEM geniune volvo parts

Gaskets you need a lot...

head gasket

gasket compound

oil pump o-ring and gasket

RMS

5 o-rings for the spark plug channels in the head

oil sump o-rings

water feed line gasket

water pump gasket

exhaust manifold gaskets

intake manifold gasket

cam seals

etc etc etc. I have a complete list at home, i'll up date later.

Good price for pistons. Mahle piston sets (OEM) frpm fcpgroton are $500.00 for for up to + .40mm. That price does include rings which would be another $100.00 if seperate, but once you pay for shipping you might as well hit the dealer.

Only place you can get them right now is dealer only. FCP CAN NOT get them right now. The OEM piston ring kit is per piston though, so thats about 80 bucks per piston..

So i got a quote to clean, flux, deck, bore, hone, and check/polish the crank for $408, i lost the piece of paper that had each price for every item so i will post it when i find the damn thing. I will probably pay them to do another cleaning after they get the machine work done because it tends to leave shavings and what not through the engine.

I would rather go OEM if im going through all this time and money rebuilding the engine. Inless there is proof that the aftermarket bearings hold up better, but as for as im concerned the OEM ones are proven.

last i heard glyco IS oem ....

just like MANN filters are OEM tho they make MANN ones and volvo ones with differnet boxes/labels

same thing for a LOT of parts the dealers sell as remember VOLVO does not make these parts in house as they outsourced EACH part to a company that sepcialized in those parts .. same reason all of the sensors are BOSCH sensors and not volvo ones ...

just like if you go to the dealer and buy gaskets they will sell you VOLVO parts but it was all made by elring and dealer just marks it up anywhere from 100-400%

not like i should know any of this because you know it is not like my supplier is the one who sells most of the parts to the dealers ..... oh snap .. wait we do

that is the old part number for them

when i search via that one it comes up with the number i gave

oh and the dealer list for those rod bearings IS only $50 so ya'll might want to check your local dealer on those prices
