What's Been Keeping Me Busy

Using the remote starter (as I usually do) as I approached the car - the wheels were pointed away from the curb - the car lurched (obviously in gear) and trapped my foot before I could get out of the way. Next lurch it was up my leg & snapped the tibia in two. I was twisting to get out of the way, so the broken bone tore the flesh around the inside calf about 4". My cell phone also got crushed under the back wheel at the same time, as it flew out of my cargo pants knee pocket.

Could have been worse, for sure. Clean break, they put a titanium rod inside & anchored it with screws top & bottom. The pain meds they gave me are not working :o - so I can't stay focused on anything for more than a few minutes. In fact, I'm done.

that's exactly what pain meds DO. A good addict would take two more and wash them down with a heineken. :o

I've always wondered about the dangers of a remote start with a manual. This tells me I have a healthy sense of fear. Goddamn man. I think we have all ground our hands dealing with the FF layout-no-room-in-the-engine-bay nonsense but this take personal damage from a P1 Volvo to a whole new level. I'm sorry to see one of my favorite VS cars do that kind of damage to someone who has taken care of it.

Good luck with the recovery. And don't over do the vicodin. Trust me.

Fuck.... man that blows. Time to wire in a neutral switch I guess??

Absolutely. The 04 S0R has a solenoid in the M66 shifter parts page, so something like that should work, that is only closed contact in neutral.

Ouch!!!

At least you're going to be ok. It definitely could have been worse.

Look at the bright side, now both you AND your car have forged rods

Thats funny. Mine's a bit lopsided, though - but I'll settle for that.

I'm on endocet - which is doing nothing - I switched to tylenol for the past 5 hours with the same level of pain relief. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, so hopefully they'll switch me to something with more effect.

I very aware of the dangers of abuse of meds - I know from personal experience what happens when you self-medicate; it's not pretty. Trust me, I don't take anything I don't absolutely have to. The doctors were chastising me in the recovery room for not using the morphine drip as often as I could - so I just took their advice and used it whenever the pain level was hindering my rest.

Strong dude. Gotta give it up for that.

That sucks man. I really love your car too. It make me sad to think that it was the reason you were hurt. And not even during a mod! Almost needed stitches when I took out the climate control. Sliced my hand in two places. That was nothing compared to this.

Were you planning on going to Carlisle? Has this put a damper on those plans? How about work?

I really dont want this to start into an argument thread, but there is another drug that has much less side effects, no potential for addiction, and also works as a pain medication. PM me for more info.

but you have definitly convinced me not to hook up my remote start without a neutral switch.
