lookforjoe Posted April 8, 2009 Report Share Posted April 8, 2009 Using the remote starter (as I usually do) as I approached the car - the wheels were pointed away from the curb - the car lurched (obviously in gear) and trapped my foot before I could get out of the way. Next lurch it was up my leg & snapped the tibia in two. I was twisting to get out of the way, so the broken bone tore the flesh around the inside calf about 4". My cell phone also got crushed under the back wheel at the same time, as it flew out of my cargo pants knee pocket.Could have been worse, for sure. Clean break, they put a titanium rod inside & anchored it with screws top & bottom. The pain meds they gave me are not working - so I can't stay focused on anything for more than a few minutes. I think we have all ground our hands dealing with the FF layout-no-room-in-the-engine-bay nonsense but this take personal damage from a P1 Volvo to a whole new level. I'm sorry to see one of my favorite VS cars do that kind of damage to someone who has taken care of it.Good luck with the recovery. And don't over do the vicodin. Trust me. The 04 S0R has a solenoid in the M66 shifter parts page, so something like that should work, that is only closed contact in neutral.Ouch!!!At least you're going to be ok. I'm going to the doctor tomorrow, so hopefully they'll switch me to something with more effect.I very aware of the dangers of abuse of meds - I know from personal experience what happens when you self-medicate; it's not pretty. Trust me, I don't take anything I don't absolutely have to. The doctors were chastising me in the recovery room for not using the morphine drip as often as I could - so I just took their advice and used it whenever the pain level was hindering my rest.
