Guest 854R Posted November 29, 2009 Report Share Posted November 29, 2009 what are the signs of worn control arm ball-joint and bushings? my car is at 117,000 miles. just replaced both inner and outer tie-rods with OEM parts, but there was no 12 and 6 o'clock movement in the wheel. speedn_j Posted November 29, 2009 Report Share Posted November 29, 2009 jack your car up and put the front on jacks, take the tire off.. get a pry bar and try to pry it between the frame and control arm. you'll see some self explanatory movement it you have bad bushings. erikv11 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Share Posted November 29, 2009 Most common sign of a worn control arm bushing is a dull clunk or heavy click from one side of the car, when moving from stopped position or (this is more variable) when applying the brakes. Basically when the car lurches forward or back, there is a clunk from motion in the bushing. Of course other things can cause a clunk so you should also check the bushing visually like with a pry bar. There should be zero movement. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
