raymondjiii
On the 98 V70AWD there is a huge piece of sub-frame (???) right under the fuel filter. I can't see how to get to the other side's fuel fitting and the pressure relief valve. The pictures here at Bay13 don't have this piece in the way.Thank you for any advice. Nuno_rules
I have just down mine about a month ago.You have to work from inside the boot, unscrew the spare tyre cover (4 bolts). Size 10 or 12.Then take off the round cover that sits just above the fuel filter. Everything gets done from there. You will need a cloth or a rag , you would be surprised by the amount of petrol coming out.Release the valve (unscrew), it is like a tap.Loosen up the bracket that the fuel filter and remove the pipe at both end.Fitting is reverse.Easy job, but scary when the petrol drips. Obviously, no lighter, no light, no fire, nothing electric and no matches around. That is if you want to live...
raymondjiii
Thanks a million! I would never have looked there in a million years! That was SO much easier.Nobody had that one documented. Not Chiltons, Haynes, owner's manual, bay13.I actually got the bolt out and the end hose but the other hose was impossible to get (going through the bottom of the car.) I probably would've gotten it, in another 78 hours of struggling with it.So much easier from the two access holes! Thanks again!

aldug
Couldn't you pull the fuse for the fuel pump and run the car until the engine dies to get rid of all of the gas in the fuel lines?
raymondjiii
Couldn't you pull the fuse for the fuel pump and run the car until the engine dies to get rid of all of the gas in the fuel lines? That was not the issue - getting rid of the pressure. The issue was getting the other end of the fuel filter disconnected.
