Hi Folks, Brand new here. I'll give you some background on the car and then will ask my question at the **** section if you want to skip the details I bought my S40 at auction for $540...have done all the repairs myself except alignment...to include: Timing Belt, Water Pump, Oil Pump, Fans, Fuel Injection Pressure Sensor, Fuel Injectors, Coils, Plugs, Cam Sensor, Thermostat, Temp meter, PCV box and venting hardware, etc. etc. etc.... ****I have been troubled by a dashboard that has all the background illumination bulbs (LED) flashing off and on, randomly flashing at high intervals, part of dash illuminated and not, just a whole lot of PITA...as well, random codes getting thrown (14, 15, 25, 44, A1, P0101, P0106, P0118, P0128, P0172, P0303) that are not parts-failure related as some of the components coded have been changed multiple times within days of each other (in case of bad new part)...so in talking with a guy who had same issues in a Dodge (Dash, strange codes), it was his ECM. I have since procured a "guaranteed used" ECM and am going to replace it this weekend. Long story short...is there a need for me to take the ECM in and have it programmed by Volvo (to the tune of a couple of hundred $ I'm sure - heck a key programming cost me $225)? Can I just install the new ECM and go for it? Do I need to go through a driving sequence to get it to recognize the new values from the engine? Many thanks and God Bless you and yours!
