Mom had a Nash Metropolitan convertible...that dad just had to put a 316-V8 in. I think it was all down hill from there. I ended up with their last 'hopped up' car, a '75 El Camino that we put a 454 in. Totally worthless in the snow, but did the best smokey burnouts that I've ever managed.

Dad has always been into cars. Raced his 1981 Porsche 911 a while back..don't remember the details though. Sold the Porsche (fully raced out, roll cage, ~400hp, super fat tires the works) after he started having to drive us to school in it and it was too low for Miami rain storms...after that a few mercedes...older stang gt..etc

My dad has owned a few weird cars.
Started with a 63' Karmann Ghia hand me down, hated it and swore off european cars (He lived in Toronto and didn't appreciate having to pull out the plunger to let gas trickle into the heater, which sucked ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD)
Then he bought a 67" Camaro SS with a 396 that had been rear ended and flipped, and bought a brand new 68' Camaro with the six pot off the showroom floor. He drove that a few times across country before doing the motor transplant.
Then he sold that at the gas crunch and got a mini. Then a few other crap cars followed, including a Plyouth Volare for the growing family that was a lemon, despite being the 'car of the year' - it was sold before the warranty ended.
He then sold it and bought a brand new 1983 Ford LTD sedan. It was cool, very 80's with digital dash, power windows, etc... That car dropped the original 3.8L and the 5.0 was swapped in, at dealer cost (my mom was friends with the local dealer owner)
Anyway, that car finally went bye-bye a few years ago. Now my dad is driving a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe, and is looking at getting a plane.
My family has always been aircraft people, since the 1920s every male has at one point owned an aircraft...
I fell into cars because my dad didn't have a plane, frankly, and my neighbour was more than happy to take the time to talk to me about cars and teach me about them.
