Alright fellas. Here is the deal. I am currently pulling the following codes. Need help solving the problem. As a background I have been having a dialogue with Rich in the Maintenance forum.

P0335 - Crankshaft Pos Sensor A Ckt Malf
P0300 - Random/Multiple Misfire Detected
P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected
P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected
P0455 - Evap Emission Control Gross Leak

I am not concerned with the Evap Emission Control code for right now. I have been trying to figure that one out for quite some time.

My ignition system. I am running an Accel Electronic Super Coil with Magnecor spark plug wires and OEM Bosch spark plugs. I am running the stock plugs because I have read they are the best for the turbo cars. I am running the other upgraded components because they needed to be replaced at the time and I figured why not upgrade.

One of my buddies was talking with someone at IPD and they said I may need more gap on the plugs to run the Accel coil. Could this be my problem? If it is an ignition problem, from what you posted Rich, it seems it could set off my Crankshaft sensor code. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If the problem could be fixed with more spark plug gap can you recommend what I should gap them to? Finally, could some upgraded plugs fix the problem?

I know at least one person on here is running the same coil. Any suggestions. The other night I installed new Autolite copper plugs gapped at 35. Still misfiring. Please help.

Did you try insalling the old one to see if the misfiring continued? Maybe yours was dammaged some how?

I thought about that. unfortunately I had to bastardize the old ignition bracket to get the Accel coil on there. I was thinking about calling a buddy up and swapping coils to see if that fixes the problem.

Put your gaps back to stock settings and I bet your misfring will go away, if not then it could be the coil is bad. Good luck.

Had OEM Bosch plugs at stock gap before the AutoLites. Problem was there. That is why I tried a larger gap. Didn't fix it. Seem to think it is a bad coil maybe. I'll need to get together with someone who has a stock coil and switch it out and try it. Chris you out there? Please e-mail me or call me. Thanks.

I have had no misfire problems so far (Exept when I had my #5 wire pinched by the cover) I am running stock volvo plugs and used the stock coil wire end that I put onto the Accel coil wire

Play with your gaps, start real low (025 or less even) and gradually go up, it should fix the problem.

Good idea to check the coil too though smile.gif

Alright fellas. Sorry for the delay in the update. I have been busy. It was the coil. I had Chris_R come over (thanks for your help man) and we put his stock coil in with the original Magnecor ignition lead. No misfiring. Car ran great. That isolated the problem to either the coil or the custom Magnecor ignition lead. Fortunately Chris had the same exact coil laying around. We installed it with the custom Magnecor lead and went for the same ride. No misfiring. It was the coil. I dug out my stock coil and have it bolted up and running fine. Before we started the test I reinstalled the OEM Bosch plugs at a 28 gap. Everything is back to normal. I may just replace with a stock coil or maybe a Nology profire. I am trying to keep the stock airbox, so I need something small enough to fit in there. I don't think that the MSD will. The Accel required some trimming. I am thinking about the Nology. Any ideas on that.
