Picking up a tranny cooler and oil cooler tomorrow to prepare for some long-distance high speed running next month. I am under the impression that the factory coolers are thermostatically controlled... should I just hook the coolers up after the radiator? Or bypass the factory setup altogether? I'm aware of the dangers of having oil that never gets to temperature, but I'm not sure about the transmission. Those of you who have done this, can I see some pics of your installation or more details? Thanks much!

Bit, hook it up in serial with the aftermarket cooler after the stock cooler...there is a detailed plan for this on the Modification section of VS's homepage

Not true.
Are you buying a Volvo transmission cooler, if you are, then hook it up the way they tell you to.
Volvo doesn't have an external/extra oil cooler. The turbo already has an oil cooler in the radiator. (so does the trans but for some reason they made an external trans cooler)
I have the external transmission cooler mounted on my 1995 HPT. The part is listed under S/V/C70s but it fits perfect.

doug,
are the aftermarket coolers just as easy to install as volvo coolrs or would it be best to order one from volvo?

The aftermarket is just as easy. Here is a install in a 850 I did for a friend. I'll try to take some pictures of mine tomorrow.
