Ok, well now I am getting really serious. We have all said "you can machine the lip". Well, truthfully, can you? I'm sick of this baby turbo stuff, and want to get a real turbo. For now an internally wastegated t3/t4 .50 or .54 trim, then later on a .54 trim with an external wastegate on a manifold. So, can someone really put an internally wastegated t3/t04e on the stock manifold with "machining"?

basically a budget, REALLLLY budget big turbo upgrade...

t3/t04e .57 trim with a .50 A/R compressor housing with a 3" inlet and 2" outlet.

0.63 A/R turbine housing with the standard T3 inlet on eBay Link to turbo

get an internal wastegate for the time being, run her on the stock manifold... get a chip made for it.

Yes you can machine the lip. You can use a Hybrid if you run low boost which will be a cooling charge then with your current turbo. I would however port the stock manifold along with putting this turbo on there.

Yea... Rob, I'm really eager to do this mod as I feel it would be a sweet alternative to the generic 16/18/19T upgrade, also gives alot more potential for the long run. Basically, I have the 16T sold and need to find someone to machine this for me.

budget man, budget.

I'm doing this at a local machine shop. My plan is to just park in their driveway, take the turbo off, push the car onto the lift get it machined, take it off the lift, put the other turbo on smile.gif. I want to do this as inexpensively as possible. Thanks for the offer, though.

My goal for pricing is $350 - internally wastegated T3/T04e, $300 downpipe for turbo, $100 for machining. That's it

What about the exhuast flanges, oil feed, oil return, special fittings for all of those, water feed and return , lines, ect ect . Then you need to make a new intake pipe for the turbo so you will need aluminum bends couplers clamps. Add about another 200- 300 bucks to everything when said and done. Just my 2 cents.

exhaust flanges, t3/t04 flange is easy to come across, oil feed and oil return I am going to do s/s, special fittings you're absolutely right, as for the water feed and return. The new intake pipe I am going to an extremely preliminary (ghetto rig) pipe for the first setup, then refine it from there. Basically, I want to get the car to be driveable from the machine shop to my house, after that I can worry about it in more depth.

You are absolutely right though, to set aside $200 for various fittings, luckily I have a "Hydraulic supply store" by me that supplies everything and anything. spring loaded clamps too biggrin.gif

Rob, thanks alot man. My goal with this is to show everyone they don't need to go out and spend $700 on a downpipe and another $500 on a 19T, as opposed to $1200 they can do it for just the price of the downpipe and make much, much more power

Turbonetics is selling an A/R .63 stage 3 turbine for Volvo.. The flange comes with the round chamber and is internally gated.. You could enlargen the wastegate channel a bit and mount an external wastegate on there.

Johann, thanks for that recommendation. Maybe one day... I doubt they want $400 for that turbo. However, if they do that'd be a great option.

A few posts back there was mentioning of a cheapo T3/T04 57 trim with an A/R .63 st3 exhaust side........

I have the same combo on my desk for over a year now.. laugh.gif
The Volvo turbine housing fits like a charm.

No, bolt that onto an externally gated T3/T04E and it should work.

so if I pay $190 on top of the $2-300 of the T3/T04E I wouldn't have to machine the stock manifold? I would just change the turbine housing from the generic one to the Volvo specific Turbonetics housing?
