Put it in 3rd gear, Sport Mode, bring your speed up to 80 (or whatever speed you need for it not to kick down to 2nd), when they so "go" you can punch it, ease into it, whatever you want, and just take it to the rev limiter.

When I dyno'd I did it similar to this.
You want to dyno in 3rd gear.
I actually had my car in drive (D), and I believe the car was in sports mode.
I SLOWLY brought the car up to ~70-80mph, and made sure it stayed in 3rd. Once I reached that speed I floored it. If the trans doesnt kick down then you are good-run it until redline/rev limiter, if it does kick down, you wont get a good reading.
Here are 2 videos, one shows a good run, one shows a run where the kick down engaged:
Good dyno run:

Bad dyno run, kick down engaged and then you can hear the car shift:

Finally someone said it, I was getting worried
you can start in drive or 3rd gear, leave it in ECONOMY mode and dont go all the way down (kick down) once you reach around 70 you can put the pedal all the way to the floor and rev it out . . .

Why didn't you just read the thread...?
And why not put it in Winter mode if you have it? Should lock the car in 3rd gear.

I really need to make a new sig pic. Nahhhhhhhh

On our automatic cars, third is the closest to 1:1 ratio. When you dyno, you want to be in the gear that is closest to 1:1 as possible.
The end of the dyno run is when you hit the max rpm, or the dyno operator tells you to shut it down cause you'll blow your shit up

Don't forget the normal stuff. Check all your fluids, a good visual inspection and you should be fine.

Yeah, keep it in Economy, put the shifter in 3rd... roll into the throttle (Don't engage the kickdown) and then at 70-80 MPH floor the hell out of it.
