I know this has been discussed many times on VS, but I was wondering if anybody could give me a little bit more detail on the process of installing it. First off, I'm installing it because I'm noticing a lot of blow-back in the I/C pipes and I'd like to get rid of that. So I bought this one:

after many of the guys from VS recommended it. After looking at the "Modification section"of VS, I'm still confused. As I recently replaced my intake hose, I'm pretty familar with the crankcase ventalation system but just need further clarifcation of how to hook up the catch can.

What I assume you do is, take the plastic tube (I think they refer to this as the 10mm pipe, which runs from the front of the intake manifold and is incased in some type of heat foam) and mate that with a 6 mm fuel safe hose which then connects to the left-side of the catch can. Then, on the right side of the catch can, a 6mm fuel safe hose runs from the catch can back to the top of the CCV (where the original 10 mm plastic tube hooked up to). Correct? This setup means, I'm polluting slightly (and losing a small amount of metered air) but am removing a lot, if not all of the oil from the crankcase ventalation vapors? Correct? Also, are there any better ways of doing this?

Thanks.

I think you have the right idea. You're basically just putting the catch can inline between the PCV box and the PCV valve to remove some of the oil vapor before it enters the intake. (I guess you already know that, but I'm just trying to simplify what you said to make sure we're thinking the same thing.)

yup, thats exactly it....so I think my only lingering question is, since the plastic tube coming from the intake manifold is 10 mm (right?), how do I step that down to 6mm to fit the 3/8" inlet on the catch can and then how do I then reconnect it back to the PCV valve on the intake hose...can I get these things at Advanced Auto Parts?

Any hardware store should do... you're looking for barbed hose fittings. Bring your parts and show a guy who works there what you gotta build... should be no prob... post some pics when yer done, this has been on my wish list to do...

EDIT: where'd you score your catch can?

Jegs...came out to be $60...not too bad considering I'm noticing a lot more blow-back and would like to pro-long the life of the turbo...

where can I get fuel safe hose? Most car stores right?

Besides removing the oil vapors, what does a catch can do for you? Does it add horsepower in some way? Also, would this be beneficial on a non turbo car in any way?

Cool, thanks. Yeah... the hose shouldn't be a big deal, I'd call ahead and ask tho... We all had catch cans on our Cummins Diesels... It's a good idea.

scope, i made my own, main benefit also is you are not spoiling cold intake air w/ superhot crank vapors, however mine is different and ents to the atmosphere, since in SC we dont have any emissions laws. if you do it lik tht i noticed significantly less heat soak however you can smell he oil vapor if sitting in traffic for a long time.
