Well after going back and fourth I finally decided to get an exhaust I went to a shop in san diego who do hot rods and everything in between.I explained that I wanted 2.50'' with no decrease in size they were not sure they could do it. We both went in the hole to look at the exhaust and his words were a piece of cake. I am not sure why so much talk about all this mandrel bent stuff on 2.50". The pipe on a 97 850 is almost straight as it is ,went with mangnaflow and not decrease at all in pipe. It sounds just like stock until you jump on it and then the it just sounds like horsepower

And why exactly are you wasting money on 2.5" exhaust instead of going 3"

I was wanting to hear your knowledge I have read 2.5" is fine for anything under 300hp you guy's are all pretty smart about volvo I guess I didn't see any reason to go 3" for many reasons

just out of curiousity joe, do you have any numbers that show a 3" exhaust a 2.3l turbo produces more power than a 2.5" ? Stock vs. Modified?

Is it possible that a 2.5" exhaust actually prevents the exhaust gases from slowing and allows for more flow and gas scavenging?

No sarcasm up to this point, just curious.

You know, you act as if you do this for a living....

I wasn't talking about backpressure. I know you want as little backpressure as possible on a turbo car. However, what proof do we have that a 3 inch pipe flows faster ( or slower ) than a 2.5" pipe on an barely modified 2.3l turbo 5-cyl?

Just curious

Obviously I would rather have dual exhaust coming out of the back of my s70 awd turbo, but if i run 3" will it be fine to run a single muffler? To keep things looking stock to the naked eye.

yes its great looking but i dont think it justifies the power gain for that amount of money. the shop my freinds and i use is great and he has looked at the 70 and says he can put a 3" system with a single muffler in the stock location around $200. (granted this is with no down pipe but it will come soon)

Yeah, for me, I want to go with duals on my car purely for looks, so I'm looking for all the pieces for the setup... but it's still low on my list of things to do... I'd say go with the 3" for the 200 bones... That's a deal. You'll be happy with the sounds, and the free-er flowing exhaust. 3" is huge... I had 4" on my Cummins, and everyone was saying that 3" is fine... Good luck man, post pics!

(BIGGER= BETTER! - my GF can't be wrong! haha..)
