Okay, I'm trying to decide between two Michelins, their Pilot Sport, or their Pilot XGT. I'm leaning towards the XGT because of the improved wet performance (I'm on the Central Coast of CA, and this may be an El Nino year). Anyone have experience with either of these tires?
(Also, how about Bridgestone Potenzas, or BF Goodrich g-Force?)
Tire size is 215/40 17 or 215/45 17

What's the price difference between the two?

I'm running the 215/45/17 Pilot Sport summer's. Just got them on about a month ago so I can't comment on wear yet, but they handle superbly in the rain (every year is an El Nino year in FL
) Cornering ability and traction are great too. No flat spotting that I've noticed. One thing about them is they occasionally follow deep lines in the road due to their tread design.

My car came with the XGT (on 16" wheels). I'm happy with them. They corner quite well and are great in the rain. I dont have anythng to compare them to on my car. I have driven with other michelins on my dad's s60 and these hands down out perform those (dont know which ones off the top of my head).

all-season tires do not mean great rain tires... in fact, many summer tires do better. all-season tires are meant to travel in light snow.. it does not imply anything about rain and hydroplane resistance unless it is a specifically designed rain tire.
that said, i would recommend the pilot sport (or pilot sport ps2) if u really want to stick with michelin. michelins have never been cheap... they are good tires..
personally, i'd try either the potenza s-03 or the f1 gs-d3 or pzero nero (non m+s) tires if u don't have snow

Good to know about the all-season (I didn't know that). We've got the P-zero Neros on our C70, not as impressed with those as I could be. I used to run Michelin on my Mercedes, and I had great results with those, so that (and the rebate) has me preferring to try them this time. I'll definitely keep the Potenzas in mind, though, since I havn't made a decision yet.

If you're concerned about wet traction, then get the Goodyear GS-D3's. They're much cheaper than the tires you listed and they have great traction. Can't coment on treadwear yet since I've only had them for a few months.
Ignorance is bliss.

I have SO-3's on my car, and I really like them. They are in their second summer and I think they will last another. I would say they have about 12K miles so far. They handle the rain very well, and stick like glue when its dry. When you break them loose in turns the loss of traction is very predictable and seems pretty linear.
Just my 2 cents.

I just put on a set of the Potenza RE950 and so far they're great...only have about 2K on them so I can't speak too much about them...great ride, quiet, great in the rain.
