I just purchased a '95 850 that has a factory radio that appears to be CD ready. Is there a cable already run from the back of the radio to the trunk or glove box area or do I need to remove the factory radio to run a new cable. What model factory CD changer should I look for as being compatible with my factory head unit? I see quite a few listed on Ebay...but not sure which are "plug & play".

Thanks,

JBS

There are only a few that are compatible with Volvo Head Units... Iirc, the Alpine ones are... but I'm not 100% sure what models. If you really want to have a CD changer, I suggest buying a new aftermarket head unit, and then a CD changer made by the same company. As a general rule, only JVC changers are compatible with JVC head units, Kenwood and Kenwood, and so on.

Hi,
Most Volvo's i've had were not prewired for the cd changer, but pull the radio and check the cd changer connector. We recently installed a cd changer in my daughters wagon.. You have to purchase a cd changer adapter or some small cable (some people call it interface), and a cd changer, the connection is very simple and the hardest thing was deciding where to install the changer.
Quiet!
Stupid questions are those we never ask!
