Does anyone know if these will fit and work with the following OEM Volvo wheels: 16" Perfo and 16" Meteor ??? Also did these 302mm brakes come standard on the 1998 V70R if so did they come with the 16" Meteor ?? Thanks for any info. God Bless. smile.gif

does the upgrade increase the size of the pads too? its my understanding that the only way to actually improve braking is by increasing the surface area of the pad onto the rotor...

This kit actually uses the same caliper, just bring it out a litle further to fit the lrger rotor, so the pad surafce area is the same, but you have a larger rotor so it helps with heat disipation.

Not only will the larger rotor help to dissipate heat, but there will be slightly better levverage to help stop the car.

I can guarantee you that the 302mm brakes will work with the Meteors. I put them on my car. The 302mm were stock on the 99+ R's. You can check the TME website. I can't remember the address, but they have details on their site about which Volvo wheels the 302mm rotors will and will not work with. Hope this helps.

funny thang....Volvo actually had/offered their "big brake kit" which was the 320mm brakes in...europe...they also called it the "17" brake kit" because u needed 17" wheel to make it work....very spendy....i still look fer them all the time to see if i can find them used in Canada or UK on ebay..no luck this far...

Larry...do u kno if the 99+v70r, w/ stock 302mm, had bigger brakes in back???

There it is, only notice there is very little clearance from the caliper to the wheel. I changed to 17" wheel.

The 320mm brake kit was very spendy and was still a 1-piston floating caliper.

The 98's and 99's had the same rear brakes. 295mm solid rotor with Girling floating caliper. Same caliper used on the front of some 240's and 740's. The 2000 R's had a ventilated rear disc. Same overall diameter as far as I know. I am still trying to find out if it was a different caliper for the 2000 R's.

$1200 for a 320mm brake upgrade, that does not seem to much to me, especially that it uses VOLVO OEM parts. smile.gif
