i was just attempting to adjust my wastegate the way they described on ipd. (it was messed with in the past).

first problem, i can't get the part that moves on the actuator arm to move without the whole arm to move. i tried using two pliers, one to hold the arm and one to turn the piece on the end. i'm trying to make it longer not shorter, so it falls directly on the lever.

second problem, i tried using a pump to apply pressure to the wastegate. i want to set it at 5.5. my boost gauge wasn't moving at all. might be a stupid question, but do you apply the pressure to the wastegate, or to the wastegate line that feeds into the boost control solnoid (bcs).

ipd calls it a turbo control valve, are they talking about the bcs or wastegate controller?

thanks

There should be a screw and a tread pattern below, this is what you screw and uunscrew. It took me about an hour and many different types of pliers to adjust my wastegate just one turn, it also helps if the engine is ice cold or you will burn yourself. And try to keep the whole arm rotation to a minimum, its not good for the rubber diaphram.

i know about the thread pattern, i just can't get that f_cker to turn with the whole part turning.

the c-clip broke on me when i was pulling it out. i went to the local volvo dealership to buy another one, and they have no record or part number for it. the guy was nice and pulled one off of a turbo and gave it to me. you can probably find one at a hardware store, oh well.

any advice on the air pump situation?
