I wouldn't since there are other controls that the ECU has that are different in every model. I would assume the controls in the '94 are different than the controls in a '98. Replaceing the ECU like that could throw off your whole system...but I'm mosting assuming this...good question.

Yeah, the S70's use a different ECU software system. It won't work.

98 ecu is 4.4 motronic.
94 ecu is 4.3 motronic. (95-97 is 4.3 too)
4.4 has faster internal processor and in combo with 16t turbo and other stuff, makes more hp. it is not compatible with a 4.3 equipped car.

If both computers are from a high pressure turbo version then the computer from the 1998 will work in your 94 even though they are a different Motronic set up. But it will through a bunch of different codes as then 98 models had more pollution crap on them (ie air pump). I have put a computer from a S70 T5 1998 model in my 96 850R and the car ran fine except for the check engine light was on.

its a good idea in general, but I don't think it would work out as easily as just swapping ECU's

Is there ANYWAY to get rid of the !@#$%^ airpump on my 98 S70?? Can it be deleted out of the ECU?

How is the R computer compared to stock, meybe it would be enough for me until the $$$$$ is there to get a 18t or 19t or similar with a complete 3inch freeflow
and fuel injectors.
Or I could get the R ECU and send my original one to chip it with speedtuning, for the stock 15G UNTIL THE $$$$$
