I really hate to do this, but people need to know about these goofballs.

All started in May of 2008. After helping my friend choose a new car, he settled on a 2005 S40 T5 AWD with 40k miles and a Volvo CPO warranty until 100k. They were asking 23k, and we worked them down to 20k with a new windshield too (the original had a rock crack in it) as we were paying with cash.

Within the first week of him having the car, the car starts making a terrible clacking noise under the floor. We take it in and it needs a new driveshaft. They give us a loner car for a few days while they order and repair the driveshaft.

We get the car back and all is well. Drew orders a K&N Typhoon intake kit from IPD for the car. I install it, then drew pays Jackie Cooper $100 for one hour of labor to confirm in writing that the air intake will not void the warranty. Check off here, all is good.

About two weeks later, the car starts to make a rattling noise when going into reverse. Back to the dealer it goes. The diagnosis is work motor mounts. This time, they wont give Drew a loner car, as he is only 19 and "their loner car policy forbids anyone under 21 to use their cars". Uhhhhhhh, wtf, this 19 year old just bought a car from this dealer with straight up cash. Great. Whatever, I just give him rides until his now coined "POS" Volvo gets fixed once again.

We get the car back, and it's problem free for about a month until one night when the key gets stuck in the ignition and wont come out. We call Volvo on call (really nice people btw) and the arrange a tow at 12:30 AM. (We were stuck at some friends house because of this)

By this time, We are getting very irritated. Drew is now wishing he had bought the WRX that I had talked him down from for the Volvo. This thing just cant stay working!

He gets the car back, and once again all is well. Car runs great, and seems to be all solved.

Drew and I are going to Tulsa when the car seems to get sluggish. No overheating or CEL lights or anything, just sounds a bit different and seems less peppy. Meh, we thought it was just heatsoak form siting in stop and go traffic in the July weather.

Drew then starts to merge onto the freeway, mashing the car to WOT. Suddenly, the entire car just shuts off and all power is lost. He coasts to the side of the onramp and trys to start it up. Nothing. It just sounds like it has 0 compression, like the starter is just spinning without any load on it. Great. I open the hood and there is oil all over the top of the engine. We once again call Volvo on Call and they send out a tow truck and tow the car away and take us home. Jackie Cooper calls us the next morning and tell us the engine is blown, and that they are unusre if they are going to cover it under warranty.

Wait, WHAT? This damn car just blew up when we were just driving it!

So about a month later, and an entire month with drew going carless, they get a new engine installed under warranty. Keep in mind, this was a month of having to hear BS stuff from Wes, the Volvo service manager. This guy just hammers Drew about how this car has been "abused." This is ABSURD! They are treating a paying customer that bought a car at their dealership like garbage. Drew knows nothing about cars, so I would start coming with him when he had to talk to Wes about his car. I wanted to be positive that this cock is not going to win.

We both agreed from this point on we are not going back to these crooks anymore, period. We are now thinking this car is such a POS due to their service to it, and not the actual car.

The car did great through the fall, until we got the first snow. It got very cold, and I get a call from Drew. He's stuck at WalMart and his car is acting crazy. Reverse lights staying on while the car is in drive, the screen on the dash flashing AWD service required, and the car stalling out and missifting. Christ, now what?! I check the battery and ensure the cable is tight, which it is.

We dogleg the car back to the house and once again call Volvo on Call. They arrange for a tow that night and this time we tow it to Bill Knight Volvo, another Volvo dealership in Tulsa. They get the car fixed the next morning! Turns out when Jackie Cooper installed the engine, they broke the ECM connector under the engine bay. Over time it worked loose causing all this trouble. The battery was also fried. This all comes to a $400 bill that drew had to pay. Bill Knight talks to Jackie Cooper and Jackie Cooper tells them to bring the invoice so they can see what went wrong and discus a reimbursement to Drew.

We take the invoice and drop it off with Wess, and we expected to get a call back. Nope. Nothing. About two weeks later we go to Jackie Cooper and Wess sits us down tells Drew he is not reimbursing him for this. He said the whole engine swap was questionable, and he's not paying a single cent back to Drew for Jackie Cooper's shitty service department screw up. This was a very heated conversation. I was about a snap away from jumping over this guys desk. I was in shock over this whole thing. THEY break the connector due to there incompetent service technicians, the car LEAVES DREW STRANDED, and they wont reimburse when drew TAKES THE CAR TO ANOTHER CERTIFIED VOLVO DEALERSHIP!

i was so mad. I've never been this mad before I don't think. This guy is a moron, and drew has been taken advantage of. Something inside of me just cant sit and watch this.
I walk out the door, hop in my Volvo 240 Turbo, and lay two huge black marks all way through the parking lot and out into the street, running through the gears. Childish I know, but damn did it feel so right. Never again will go back to Jackie Cooper.

A few months later, Drew loans the car out a friend, which looses control around a hairpin corner at high speed and ends up totalking the car. WOOHOO! This f$#k*!g car is finally dead forever!
Drew ends up getting 18k from it all. He left for the Marines right after all of this happened, but plans to buy a WRX when he returns. Hopefully it will not be anything like this mess.

Jackie Cooper is a disgrace to the Volvo name. Now if you drive in there with a Porsche, they'll bend over and give you whatever you want. If you drive in with a Volvo or Nissan, expect to be looked down upon. Sad but true.

Bottom line: Stay away from Jackie Cooper. Bill Knight Volvo is just down the street. They are super nice and I almost know the service guys, Billy, Tim, and Rocky on a personal basis. Super nice people and will get you fixed up fast.

YOU ARE 100% CORRECT!

I have a 2005 Mercedes C230 with 48,000 miles with a BLOWN ENGINE! We purchased it NEW with 69 miles on it from Jackie Cooper Imports. It has the manuf. warranty until 50,000 miles. BUT...Jackie Cooper says "it isnt covered because we don't have all of our service records"! We had the oil changed there..Now, they have NO record of it! On the vehcile history report..it shows we only drove the car 500 miles in almost 2 years!!! I drive the car EVERYDAY!! They have ALTERED the records!!!
I still owe 17,000.00..I still pay 520.00 a month on a car that sits in our driveway!

THEY ARE SCAMS & LIARS!!
