What are the diffrences between the two engines, besides the 40 or so horsepower difference in the facotry ratings? I would think more boost from the turbo, by I could be wrong.

The T-5 has smaller displacement and a lower compression, as well as a bigger turbo.

5 cylinder engine displacement have changed for 2005. for all years before and including 2004, almost all hpt (t5, turbo, t5r, r, except s60r/p2 v70r/2000 v70r) cars had 2.3L, with different sized turbos but still considered hpt. almost all other models n/a and lpt had 2.4L or 2.5L. for 2005, all 5 cylinder turbo models now have 2.5L and all 5 cylinder n/a models have 2.4L.

I wasn't aware that there was a difference in the displacement between the two. Thanks for clearing that up. I am just judging the possibility of ading some horsepower to my car.

i'd add a free-er flowing exhaust, then a better air filter, and an ecu upgrade for more boost. With that you will feel great gains. Just don't tell your stealership you're chipped (ecu upgrade), unless they're fine with modifications.

Do the turbo cars respond good to ECU upgrades?
