Pardon me but I'm confused about why 2.5" downpipes are sold if te stock one is 2.5 already.
Or was I misreading that dimension from a recent post .

Stock is actually 2.25 IIRC. Also it is crush bent, so in some places it's probably more like 1.75. What you want is a mandrel bent, larger diameter downpipe and exhaust where the diameter of the pipe stays the same through the entire system including the curves.

Stock isn't crush-bent.

When I took my car to he muffler shop to have a Magnaflow put on I asked him if he could do a better job then what was there. He said no way!! Volvo exhausts are not as restrictive as other stock cars. I will have then install the magnaflow muffler but will use mandrel bend off the muffler.
The guy also measured the pipe with a Micrometer(I Think that is what it is?) and it measured 2 3/8. I will go this route for now and If i do infact put on an 18t then I will go with a complete mandrel system. I will look into a highflow cat as well as long as it will pass smog.

Again with the 18t - seems to be getting more press than ever. It used to be all 19t talk....
