As winter time approaches many states will be switching over to oxygenated gas. Just wanted to remind people that with the oxygenated gas it has approx. 5% less power so you will may see a decrease in power and fuel mileage by the same amount approx. 5%. Just wanted to remind people before they start thinking that all of a sudden their cars are not running as strong, getting worse gas mileage, etc. God Bless. smile.gif

....Word. I had no idea that they even did that- sounds right. Am I right in guessing- colder less denser air= less oxygen= hence the necessity for oxygenated gas?

Nope. Check out this link at Chevron

The oxygenates they add are to reduce carbon monoxide output, and winter being the time of highest carbon monoxide output, your friendly Government mandated the use of these additives to reduce CO output.

No such laws down in Australia, but the some big supermarket chains use MTBE as additives constantly. Never realised what they were, but after reading the Chevron thing, now I know. 1 to Me - 0 to all my fool friends who said all the petrol came from the same refinery.
