no governor for 850 turbo models .. only aerodynamic drag limited to around 150 mph give or take..

130 mph speed limiter was introduced later in the s/v/c70 cars

According to Road & Track Magazine when they tested the 850 turbo the electronic governor was set at 155 MPH.

Yes - top speed is electronically governed on the 850 turbo..

Yeah, from my understanding the car could theoretically reach 155mph but was limited to 150mph through electronic governor.

hmm... yeah.. road and track does seem to note it may be electronically limited...but i don't know if they actually tested it out. car and driver noted on all their tests of 850 turbo cars failed to reach 155 mph ..most don't pass 150 mph..so they wrote it's aerodynamically limited to what ever speed they tested...

As i recall, the original Road & Track article on the 850 Turbo indicated the car reached a top speed of 155 MPH at which point the electronic governor pervented it from going further.

I have only hit 130 MPH in my 850 turbo- driver anxiety limited laugh.gif

Front end become too light and braking a bit scary at these speeds. Boxes on wheels behave strangely at very high speeds IMHO.

ok, there is no governor on the 850 turbos.

I know because I am an immature kid who had to find out dry.gif

I had her past 140 indicated on the speedo, and my friend in his GTI was reading 154 on his speedo while I was still steadily accelerating away (not very accurate) but I know I was doing 150 or greater (I know I didn't have GPS and the speedo's are inaccurate at that speed).

so, yes these cars will do over 150 and feel fairly stable at those speeds (just don't try to switch lanes blink.gif ) it will scare the stuff out of you
