SO then how does one go about modifying (trimming) their airbox?

It's a very generalized article, and does not give footnotes for any of these generalizations...
For instance, it assumes that every OEM airbox is created equal-- that they are equally deficient between makes and models. This is important to us because we have a very good factory airbox.
It was also kind of funny to note his recommendation to "change gears closer to redline" because you have more power at higher rpms...

Well, the cold air, warm air thing makes some sense, but would boxing up my cone filter so the outside cold air is ducted to it make a difference?
Thanks!
Thanks!

i could have sworn i saw some kits sell like that with a plastic clear shield boxed around the cone filter?
does anyone know of any volvo specific cone filters that do have this plastic heat shield box with detailed instructions? im thinking of doing this, a chip, and a fair stage0 next summer

dirty k+n cone + kevin's old ghettorigged heatshield (need to move onto slater's "ghetto" style setup)
bfg trac t/a 205/50/16s (pretty decent for a standard tire but they're no toyo)

LOL, what are you talking about? Sounded totally thorough and scientific to me. Everybody knows the stock airbox restricts 100% of the air flow.
