^ That's nice - but it's the old style shifter - personally I prefer the slide-on knob/ plastic housing vs the screw-on/aluminum housing design.
Since the rod (30651390) is listed as a spare part, I'll probably buy one & mess with that to come up with an adjustable lower section - on the plastic case design the whole back is open as you can see in my pics - so you can reach in & easily make height adjustments. I'd follow Aaron's method & space (raise ) the housing to allow more room underneath.
