OK, bear with me for a sec.
I've seen a lot of talk of check engine lights when removing the cat. I have also seen a pipe made to help eliminate that pesky CEL but I can't seem to find them anymore. I thought it was for a WRX maybe.
I threw together a VERY rudimentary drawing so that maybe someone will recognize it. It is essentially an L shaped pipe that moves the O2 sensor out of the direct flow of the exhaust so that it only gets a 'whiff' of the actual output.
OK, can't post the image as a BMP on the board, here's the link.

Stock is on the left, 'pipe' on the right.
Anyone?
O2 Sensor 'spacer'?

hmm, I've never seen the "whiff" method you describe... however I have seen where they put a spacer in there so that the o2 gets hot enough (touching the exhaust pipe) however OBD-II reads right through this eventually and your o2 is screwed
