Green Day Predicts Anarchy After Bush Re-Election :

"Punk rockers Green Day fear for the future now that George W. Bush has been re-elected as President.
The "Time of Your Life" stars say their new album, 'American Idiot,' is a response to recent events in the nation and abroad and they are concerned that a popular insurrection is a serious possibility.
Singer Billie Joe Armstrong says, "This new record of ours was born out of everything that has happened in this country over the past few years."
"We are not in a good place, and because Bush wasn't forced out of office, there could be an uprising. Things could get lawless."
Bassist Mike Dirnt adds, "S**t, yeah. I wanted Billie to hold nothing back. We had to vent our feelings, and had to do something, to get rid of that f**ker Bush."

Always nice to hear qualified individuals speak out! So glad...

i used to like them in high school. dookie used to be one of my favorite cd's, too. oh well, there are alot of celebrities that use their position to espouse their political views, i just ignore them. i don't really object to it, its just that most of the time they look like fools in doing so.

eh, i don't really care if they don't keep quiet, because they don't have to. i just think they should evaluate what they are saying and evaluate the response before they say it. when they get a negative reaction, they get very defensive and try to act like they are being "blacklisted". that is what drives me up a wall. i support their right to say whatever they want to say just as much as i support their opponents bashing them.

it seems it is a trophy for celebs to claim they have been blacklisted by the mass right wing conspiracy. to that, i just snicker and move on.

It's probably not nearly as much of an issue with bubble-gum punk like GD but the Dixie Chicks got blackballed from Country music for speaking against W. Funny thing is it was only like 13 words (or some crap) at a concert in England.

Doesn't matter who the star is, records stop selling and they are back to pushing brooms and scrubbing toilets like the rest of us.

the thing with the dixie chicks, is that what's her face should have thought about what she was saying and who her primary audience was before she said it. once she had thought that through, then she should have said whatever she wanted to say, but i think it was just a foot in the mouth moment.

i don't think they got blacklisted by anyone, really. people just stopped buying their records (but concert attendance wasn't hurt), because they didn't like them any more.

None of the Country stations out here in Atlanta have played a single DC song since the whole thing broke.

I think if they would have just apologized all would have been forgotten.

What idiots. Stupid celebrities. Yeah! Anarchy, dude!! Oh, shiz, our Rock the Vote didn't work....oh shiz, our album that refers to the president as an idiot didn't work. Oh shiz, the youth of America accounted for the same percentage of the total vote as last election. I'm a stupid celebrity, but I'm cool because I hate Bush. I'm part of a minority, and that's cool, so is rioting and anarchy..............

Sorry. Just had to "vent".

Actually it was the biggest vote total by a President EVER! Way more votes than Clinton got EITHER time.

As the the rock star thing? Who cares? I liked Dookie and Ten, but think Green Day and Pearl Jam's political views stink. The Dixie Chicks brought that on themselves and only compounded it by what they did after trying to blame censorship instead of just apologizing. Country music fans are some of the most staunch republicans there are. If they offend their audience then they don't get paid. It is as simple as that. We don't owe them stuff. If they make good enough music then we buy it, if not then they don't make squat. The old saying goes something like if you aren't a liberal when you are 20 you have no heart and if you aren't a conservative by the time you are 40 you have no brain.

Actually the funniest thing is all the Bush haters think they are smarter than everyone else, but really they are just sheep following the lead of the press and political pundits. If you truly look at what he has done and what is going on you will see a decent if not above average and sometimes brilliant strategist. However his political enemies have to spread misinformation and all those rock stars and 'nuianced' people swallow it without thought.

Hehehe!!!

Don't you just love politically active celebs??!?! So I think it's now official: America does not care what Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Madonna, Alec Baldwin, Barbara Streisand, Robert Redford, Ben & Jerry, Susan Sarandon, Pearl Jam, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen, Dixie Chix, Dave Mathews, or Michael Moore think.

The Dems had a ton of celebrity "star power", the full weight of the liberal media - complete with stories based on forged documents and incessant biased negative reporting...and they still lost.

The key for success for the Dems has been made quite clear by the American populace: change your views, policies, and platform. We do not agree with you.

the democratic party has gone so far left in the past 25 years or so, that the disconnect between them and the majority of the country is getting pretty big. they have moved so far left that it has made the right look like it has been moving right (when it's been moving left as well). i think in the next four years or so we will see a centrist movement within the democratic party to regain power. which i am all for. i don't like voting for one party only, but when the alternative is so far removed from what i believe in, i can't see myself voting other than republican any time soon.

I don't see why he thinks there is going to be an uprising. I would venture to guess that the average American thinks that Bush is a decent guy who they may or may not agree with but is fine nevertheless. People who hate Bush are such a minority, but you think everyone hates him beacuase that group is so vocal about it.

i disagree, i think a large portion of kerry followers were only kerry followers to get bush out of office. And thats potentially a large crowd, kerry did lose by a large margin, but he still had enough votes to win past elections in this country.

Ontheheel hit it right on the head. If Bush was running 20 years ago he would have been a Democrat. Now he is considered "Ultra Right Wing." Give me a break. There is nothing Right Wing about him. Just a Democratic party in shambles trying so hard to convince people that they are mainstream. I'm torn because I'd love to see these idiots not figure it out and keep losing elections. However I would like a 2nd VIABLE party to vote for. The Democrats used to have a good party, but the cooks and whackos took over and now they are just a joke.

Here is an article from a Decent Democrat:

http://www.hannity.com/story.php?content=/zell_miller

Here is an excerpt:

But the Democratic Party is no longer a national party. As difficult as the challenges are — both real and fabricated — Democrats offered no solution that was either believable or acceptable to vast regions of America. Tax increases to grow the economy are not a solution that is believable or acceptable. Democratic promises of fiscal responsibility are unbelievable in the face of massive new spending promises. A foreign policy based on the strength of "allies" such as France is unacceptable. A strong national defense policy is just not believable coming from a candidate who built a career as an anti-war veteran, an anti-military candidate and an anti-action senator.
