I run e85 in my wag. No problems. If I get out somewhere they dont have e85 I can top it off with 87 if I have more then a half a tank.

Besides its only $1.37 2 blocks from my house.

Your running e85 in a stock 850? a-farmboy.gif

And 15% is not going to hurt anything. Most of you guys are so pig rich anyways a little ethanol will dry the fuel and get your AFRs in check

You need to build the engine to safe(ish)ly run e85, if the tolerances aren't tight enough you'll get e85 in your oil along with other problems.

Thats kinda what I was getting at. A/F will be way out of whack on top of the fact you will see massive piston wipe unless you have the correct rings, or run a topend lube/ethanol safe oil. Methanol/Ethanol engines have been around decades. Nothing new here, but you do need to take basic precautions.

how about corrosion issues?

and how are rings intended for use with ethanol different from normal rings?

They run a different top ring and are much less gap. They are usually built out of a more corrosive resistant metal also since the alcohol tends to collect in the ring lands. But thanks for playing.

I am convinced that the 10 to 15% does do catalyst damage in certain circumstances, proving it is a different story though. I do agree on a fat running modded car it won't hurt a thing.

Cars have been running E10 every winter since the 70s, nothing new here.

i'm pretty sure you'll kill your fuel system as well
alcohol will rust out your fuel lines
and that is also something i do not want to deal with

they don't even have e85 around my area yet for whatever reason

In the marine industry I have seen it break down fuel lines which then clog up the injectors. We have also had problems with water forming in fuel tanks. I have a 1982 K5 Blazer and the first couple of tank fulls of 10% ethanol loosened up any debris that was in my fuel lines and fuel tank then clogged the the fuel filter. Carb was removed twice in order to clean jets. wink.gif
