I am wondering if the window glass from x70's is the same for 850's. I got a ticket for illegal tint and i have a friend who has glass from an x70 that i want to swap in temporarily to get the ticket fixed.

Yep, exactly the same. I keep a non-tinted window in my garage exactly for the same reason. It takes 10-minutes per door to remove the windows. 40 minutes vs. re-tinting or paying the fine... I'll take the 40 minutes.

No such thing as legal tint in the front in Cali. Even the 35% I run on the front windows of all my cars is considered illegal.

I did have more than one tint shop tell me that installing a clear UV blocking tint would be legal only because it does not darken the glass at all, but any shade, darkening, or reflective tint is not legal. (they'll still sell/install it, but they're not liable for the ticket you may receive later on)

Yeah, I had one shop do the tint on both of my cars, and on about 5 cars for family and friends, and all of them did 20% up front.....shop told all of us up front that they were not liable for any tickets/fines.

luckily, none of us have been pulled over in the past 5 years in Los Angeles!

yup, no tint allowed in CA. Although you can have tint on the rear, just none on the front.

interesting find jacko. from what i have read no tint is legal in ca. ill have to look into that a little more.

no 30% here, just 20%. I'll swap out the glass with regular glass so i can get the citation signed and then back in goes the tinted glass
