never had a problem with them being sensitive.
and the whole idea of the wire is to MAKE an aux.
line outs are for people who dont know how to make their own rca converters.
i think the stock deck is very capable of doing what it needs to do.

Line level outs are for people who do not want shitty SNR. And your AUX cable is not worh a crap as far as SQ. IPOD line level ins are built with the ipod in mind as a preamp. With no gain control and a piss poor DAC your not going to get good sound quality. Couple that on top of your DIY RCA outs, and you have a real cluster fuck of a mess. Its a car. You do not need isolated PSU with .0002 THD low WOW and Rumble but garbage in is garbage out. Then again your already listening to MP3 with the most craptastic sample rate on earth so maybe it doesnt matter after all. Why not just humm to yourself?

You cannot figure out how to back solder a PCBA and you're argueing EE with me? Should have figured you didn't know what you were talking about. For you ghetto AUX the board is printed what it is. Assuming all the PCBAs are the same on all volvo HUs you want to ground/left to pin 3 signal/right to 5 based on those instructions.

Barring a piss poor solder job its going to sound fine for MP3s. But even if your ignore MP3s have awful SQ the biggest downside to this is the lack of gain adjustment. This means you will have to match your ipods volume to your HUs. Not something I would want to deal with every time to pull up to order my 8ball of coke or supersize my fat ass.

I just did this after my regular head unit stopped working. It's incredibly easy and the whole procedure took about 30 mins from pulling the radio to putting it back in. I agree with Chuck, though.. the stock deck sucks hard. I'm considering just plugging an mp3 player directly into my amp. There's really only one radio station I like anyways.
